I’ve lost count of the number of times that I’ve heard my brothers and sisters of a lighter hue say they are shocked.
It has got to the point where I feel that my plight and the plight of those who look like me is being mocked.
Don’t be shocked!
In times likes these with the pandemic, the riots, the idiots who lead and incite hate and division.
It would be easy to yield and rise to the derision.
Don’t be shocked!
Instead, we stand in solidarity with our people across the globe who face insult, ridicule and downpression.
Murdered in the streets while the world watched in disbelief, outrage, anger and, for some, newfound realisation.
Don’t be shocked!
This is what everyday life is like for the black man, woman and child.
And we are expected to accept it with an apologetic smile.
No, don’t be shocked!
Be downright and unapologetically outraged! ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿
