Here’s a poem I wrote at the height of the pandemic in 2020, The Year of the Nurse and Midwife. I recited it and posted on my YouTube channel, however I haven’t publish it in the written form until now. The sentiments mean even more to me today than ever before.
Word, sound and power. Using my voice for the uplifment of others. Read below to see what the five letters, N U R S E mean to me.
N is for the nurturing and healing power that nurses effortlessly display.
U is for the unrivalled compassion that every nurse shows that brings peace to patients night and day.
R is for the resilience that no other professional can match.
S is for the servitude that nurses freely provide.
E is for the empathy for our patients, their families, our colleagues, all with a smile.
Show a nurse you care, today, tomorrow and always.
Happy Nurses’ Day. #IND2021
From my healing art series of poems.
More pics from one of the proudest moments of my career in 2016 when I was one of the Florence Nightingale Scholars selected to lead the procession of the lamp at Westminster Abbey. A life changing experience. Thank you FNF.
