Maya Angelou Inspires


So many people have inspired me the 4 decades that I have been here.

People from afar and people near.

But there’s one that stands out by a mile.

She truly lived her life with passion, compassion, and so much style.

Her name was Maya Angelou.

Dr Maya Angelou, to put a handle on it. 😊

This 90th birthday is a celebration of a life well lived.🎉❤️

I’m no poet, I freely admit.

Still, not even that minor point could stop me still.

From jotting a few lines in honour of a lady who truly inspired and forever will.

She taught us that despite the injustices, still we must rise.

We are all wonderfully and phenomenally made, she made us all realise.

Also that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.

That our lives will be rainbows for others when we live with grace and zeal.

So let nothing stop the shine that comes from within.

Shine like the sun, the moon and stars and soak it all in.

As we go through life cognisant of the fact that all great achievements require time. So, do the best you can until you know better.

And when you know better, do better.

I’m no poet, I freely admit.

Yet, that has not stopped me one bit.

So thank you beautiful one as we trod on.

And continue to sing our freedom song.🦋
